Tadka Daal Fry

Tadka daal fry is healthy lentil dish always serve with jeera rice. Combinations of toor daal, moong daal, urad daal, chana daal and masoor daal cook with traditional indian spices makes it authentic north Indian dish. Tadka daal fry is about the “Tadka” or “Tempering” whereas this is about the richness of the Dal by itself. It has mouthwatering taste of traditional Indian spices with different lentils will surely crave you to have it.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable Ghee – 2 TBS
  • Oil – 2 TBS
  • Toor daal – ¼ Cup
  • Masoor daal – ¼ Cup
  • Moong daal – ¼ Cup
  • Chana Daal – ¼ Cup
  • Urad daal – 2 TBS
  • Water for boiling daal – 4 to 5 cups
  • Cumin seeds – 1 & ½ TBS
  • Bay leaves – 1
  • Dry red chili – 2
  • Cloves – 5
  • Cinnamon stick – 1 large
  • Star anise (Badiya) – 1
  • Cardamom – 3
  • Crushed ginger, Garlic & green chili – 2 TBS
  • Onion – 1 large cut into small pieces
  • Tomatos – 1 large cut into small pieces
  • Kitchen king masala – 1 TBS
  • Garam masala – ½ TBS
  • Coriender Powder – ½ TBS
  • Red chili powder – ½ TBS
  • Chat masala – ½ TBS
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ TSP
  • Lime juice – 1 TBS
  • Salt – As per needed
  • Kasturi Methi – 2 TBS
  • Cilantro – For garnishing
  • FOR TADKA
  • Vegetable Ghee – 1 TSP
  • Oil – 1 TSP
  • Coriander seeds – 1 TSP
  • Dry red chilies – 2
  • Salt – pinch
  • Red chili powder – 3 pinches
  • Water – for drops

Method

  • Soak all daal together in warm water aroung 2-3hours.
  • Now boil daal adding salt,turmeric powder and 1TSP of oil into it.
  • Boil it less then 5minutes.
  • PREAPARATION OF DAAL
  • Take pan and add ghee and oil to it.
  • Add Cumin seed to hot oil and let it crack.
  • Add all whole spices to it and saute it for 30 seconds.
  • Now add crushed ginger, garlic and green chili to it and saute it for 30 seconds.
  • Add onion to it and some salt to fast cooking and saute it for 1 minute.
  • Add Kitchenking masala, chat masala, garam masala. Coriander powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder to it and mix well and cook it for next 30 seconds.
  • Now add tomatoes to it and mix well.
  • Add boiled daal to pan now and mix everything well.
  • Add water to it as per you want consistency of your daal.
  • Now add lime juice, kasturi methi and salt to it and mix well and let it boil and cook for next 5 minutes.
  • FOR TADKA
  • Add ghee and oil to tadka pan and let it heat up properly. It should be super-hot.
  • When it’s super-hot, add coriander seeds and dry red chilies to it.
  • Immediately add salt, red chili powder and drops of water to it and add it to daal.
  • Be careful while giving tadka, your red chili powder should not be burn.
  • Now mix tadka properly with daal and add cilantro to it.
  • serve it hot with jeera rice or plain rice.
